Who We Are

Magic Math Master is an Australian maths tutoring company based in Coburg, Melbourne.
We specialise in helping children build strong foundations, confidence, and a real love of maths through playful, real-world, and carefully structured learning.

The company was founded by Dr Tuyet Vu, a scientist, engineer, experienced maths teacher, and mum of two primary-aged children. Her experience in both STEM research and classroom teaching shapes everything we do.

What We Do

We provide:

One-to-one tutoring – tailored support or extension for individual students
Small-group and larger-group lessons – discussion, collaboration, and confidence speaking in front of others
Maths Club – weekly problem sets, team activities, and regular challenges
Maths competition training & registration support – for students who want extra challenge and enrichment

We work with:

Primary school students (Kinder/Prep – Year 6)
High school students (Years 7–10 and beyond, depending on demand)

Our lessons are available:

Online, for students anywhere
Face-to-face in the Coburg area or nearby, by arrangement

Our Teaching Approach

At Magic Math Master, lessons are designed to be:

Practical – linking maths to everyday life, technology, science, and students’ interests (such as soccer, games, or puzzles)
Engaging – using stories, questions, games, and movement where appropriate
Child-focused – building on each student’s current level, confidence, and goals

We aim to develop:

Solid skills in number, algebra, problem-solving, and reasoning
Curiosity and creative thinking
Confidence to explain ideas and present solutions clearly

Our Tutors

Magic Math Master is led by Dr Tuyet Vu, a scientist, engineer, and experienced maths educator who has taught students from early primary to university in both Vietnam and Australia, and has extensive experience as a STEM researcher in applied mathematics and signal processing. She is also an experienced teacher-training lecturer who has trained secondary school mathematics teachers, and she sets the academic standards, designs the learning materials, and leads the teaching approach used in our programs.

As the company grows, tutors working with Magic Math Master will be:

Carefully selected for strong mathematical understanding and clear communication
Trained in the Magic Math Master approach, including real-life applications, problem-solving, and confidence-building
Expected to follow child-safe practices and maintain a supportive, respectful learning environment

Our aim is to build a small, high-quality team of tutors who share our values: kindness, patience, high expectations, and a belief that every child can grow in maths with the right support.
