Magic Math Master is an Australian maths tutoring program based in Coburg, Melbourne.
We help children from primary and early high school build:
strong foundations in maths
confidence in their thinking
curiosity and enjoyment of problem-solving
We do this by combining real-world maths, play-based learning, and clear explanations that match each child’s level and interests.
Maths doesn’t have to be scary or boring – at Magic Math Master, we want it to feel interesting, achievable, and even a little bit magical.
Magic Math Master was founded by Dr Tuyet Vu, a:
scientist and engineer
experienced maths teacher and tutor
devoted mum of two primary-aged children
She has taught maths and related subjects from early primary through to high school and university in both Vietnam and Australia.
Her background includes work in:
applied mathematics
signal processing
tracking algorithms for real technology and defence
This means the maths your child learns is not just from textbooks – it is connected to how maths is really used in science, engineering, technology, and data.
As the founder of Magic Math Master, it is my great pleasure to offer an Australian-curriculum–aligned maths program that helps students build confidence, master foundational skills, and reach their full potential. Whether a child needs to catch up, extend beyond the classroom, prepare for exams, or simply enjoy the beauty of numbers, my goal is to support them every step of the way.
Over many years of teaching, researching, and parenting, I’ve learned that true mathematical understanding goes far beyond memorising formulas. Maths is a universal language of logic and creativity. It helps us make decisions, design technology, understand data, and solve complex problems in the real world. I believe every child can appreciate this “magic” when it is taught clearly, patiently, and in a way that connects to their life.
I have taught and tutored students from Prep to Year 12 and university in both Vietnam and Australia, and I hold degrees in mathematics, electrical engineering, and education, including a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Melbourne. Alongside teaching, I work as a scientist and engineer in Australia, developing advanced tracking algorithms and performance metrics for real-world applications such as radar and space surveillance.
At Magic Math Master, I aim to make mathematics engaging, meaningful, and confidence-building. I connect learning to real-world situations — from tracking a soccer ball to understanding how satellites move — and use stories, games, and creative problem-solving to keep children curious. Above all, I want students to grow into independent learners who can think logically, explain their reasoning, and enjoy the challenge of a good problem.
Thank you for considering Magic Math Master as part of your child’s learning journey.
Warm regards,
Dr Tuyet Vu

At Magic Math Master, we believe:
Every child can grow in maths with the right support.
Maths should be clear, meaningful, and connected to real life.
Children learn best when they are curious, engaged, and feel safe to try.
In our lessons, we focus on:
Curiosity-driven learning – asking “why?” and “what if?”
Creative thinking – trying different strategies, drawing, visualising
Logic & focus – breaking problems into steps and explaining thinking
Play & movement – using games and activities so learning sticks
Confidence & voice – encouraging children to explain their answers
Real-life maths – from pizza and pocket money to goals and shots on target, and even satellites and technology
We want children not only to get the right answer, but to understand how and why.
We offer:
One-to-one tutoring
– Fully tailored support or extension to meet each student’s needs.
Group lessons
– Teamwork, discussion, and confidence speaking in front of others.
Maths Club
– Regular problem sets, monthly team activities, and local/online challenges.
Maths competition training & registration support
– For students who want extra challenge, Maths Olympiad style questions, or competition preparation.
Lessons are available:
Online – for students in any location
Face-to-face – in the Coburg (Melbourne) area, by arrangement
All students who register with Magic Math Master – for lessons, Maths Club, or competition training – receive a monthly progress chart so families can see how their child’s skills are developing over time.
Magic Math Master is currently led and taught by Dr Tuyet Vu, who designs and delivers the core maths program. She has taught children from early primary through to high school, as well as university students, and has extensive experience as a STEM researcher in applied mathematics and signal processing. She is also an experienced teacher-training lecturer who has trained secondary school mathematics teachers.
Drawing on this experience, she carefully tailors lessons to each child’s level, goals, and interests. As Magic Math Master grows, any new tutors will be trained to follow the same child-focused, real-world, and confidence-building approach to teaching maths.
Location: Coburg, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Format: Online and face-to-face (depending on availability)
